Route description

Leg 1:  Leg distance 0.4 mile(s)   Start of leg GR: SN747543
From the back car park of the George Borrow Hotel follow the farm access track, passing through gates, until after 700 yards you come to the buildings of Bryn Bras farm.

Leg 2:  Leg distance 0.1 mile(s)   Start of leg GR: SN747801
Turn left in farmyard, and go through gate in front of you and the second gate around 50 yards or so further on. Then cross the stream after which look for a fence going straight up the hill in front of you. About 80 yards up the hill there is a stile in the fence. Make your way around the boggy area to the stile.

Leg 3:  Leg distance .2 mile(s)   Start of leg GR: SN747800
Cross stile and continue upwards along a steepish path over moorland, to a fence in about 800 yards. Look carefully for the path as it ascends through the heather. There are a few waymarking posts to help. The steepish section is followed by a downhill section before a short incline to a stile in the fence.

Leg 4:     Start of leg GR: SN745792
Cross stile and go ahead 50 yards through the reclaimed pasture to a waymark post by an ancient stone circle on the left and, then veer left 50 yards or so to a stile in the fence below you.

Leg 5:     Start of leg GR: SN746791
With the Ystwyth Gorge directly ahead follow the path, descending, steeply , slippery when wet, passing house on the right, to arrive at Parsons Bridge over the afon Rheidol..

Leg 6:  Leg distance 0.3 mile(s)   Start of leg GR: SN749790
Reach and cross Parsons Bridge from where a path leads up the other side of the valley to Ysbyty Cynfyn Church after 600 yards

Leg 7:     Start of leg GR: SN753791
Turn left at the A4120 main road for about 300 yards to reach gate leading to Ty Mawr Farm, on the right.

Leg 8:     Start of leg GR: SN755793
Follow the farm track upwards through the farm and after a mile, passing through several gates, arrive at the gate into the forest.

Leg 9:     Start of leg GR: SN768786
Swing left on forest track and continue keeping left on the track ahead (passing two forest tracks leading off to the right). Look out for an easily missed path on left in about three quarters of a mile

Leg 10:     Start of leg GR: SN773795
At the path turn sharp left on to it. It is a rough forest path leading upwards. At the point where the open area turns left look straight on through the trees for a fence with a stile and proceed the short dstance to it, Cross the stile to emerge from the forest.

Leg 11:     Start of leg GR: SN771794
On emerging from the forest go the short distance to overlook the minor valley in front of you. The track to follow upwards may not be easily discernable on the ground so look for it from this distance. Look across the valley and you can make out a path going upwards on the side of the valley, for a hundred yards or so to the head of the valley then veering left until it arrives at a stile after about 300 yards. Follow this route.

Leg 12:  Leg distance 0.2 mile(s)   Start of leg GR: SN770797
Cross the stile and turn left roughly parallel with the fence on your left fivty yards or so away. The path is not very distinquishable at first but you will soon meet a more visible grassy track. Go left on the track and follow it down until it reaches a stile opposite a hill with shale scree.

Leg 13:     Start of leg GR: SN767799
Cross the stile, go right and follow a grassy track ss it circles left around around the hill thereafter meandering as it goes generally right to the vicinity of the fence. Continue down with the fence on your right until you arrive at two stiles in close proximity.

Leg 14:     Start of leg GR: SN763805
Cross both stiles and now walk down with the fence on your left. As you walk note the gap between the two hillocks ahead . When you reach the fence corner go straight ahead to this gap after which you will see a white painted house in the near distance. Go down the hill to a gate in the fence. After the gate turn half left and descend in the direction of the white painted house. The path emerges on to the B4343 opposite this house.

Leg 15:     Start of leg GR: SN757807
Turn left onto the road and after about 50 yards turn right on to the track adjoining the bungalow. Go straight down the track to the metal field gate ahead. Go through the gate and down the hill, keeping the fence immediately to your left. Continue direct down until you reach an industrial building at the bottom above which is an old iron pedestrian gate.

Leg 16:     Start of leg GR: SN751807
Either use the difficult old pedestrian gate gate or easily cross the fence, then go right to the track and down the few yards to the main road then to a point adjoining the play area. Go to your car if you left it there and perhaps drive along for refreshment at the local George Borrow Hotel. Otherwise walk down the road, turn left after the bridge and carefully walk along the A44 to the designated starting point which is the George Borrow Hotel
